Background
 
Nima was born in Los Angeles, USA.  His family soon after relocated to Melbourne where he spent his childhood.  He started playing tennis when he was 7 years of age at his local tennis club in Melbourne's south-eastern suburbs.  His passion for tennis at an early age brought opportunities in LA to pursue his tennis career.  During Nima's time in LA he competed at the high school, national junior, collegiate and then professional level.  While representing his home country of Australia internationally, Nima held an ATP world ranking for over 8 years.  In addition to Nima’s playing experience he has coached at Tennis and Country Clubs for over a decade.  During this time Nima coached and mentored various teams and players of all levels to achieve their personal tennis and fitness goals.  Some of these players have gone on to compete at a national level, including several junior players who earned NCAA college scholarships in the USA.

Before starting Nima Tennis, Nima spent over a year as the Head Coach of Kelly Tennis at Canterbury TC.  Prior to his arrival to Canterbury TC, he was the Director of Racquets of Concord Country Club, in the USA. During that time he developed all coaching programs for both tennis and platform "paddle" tennis, attracting new members and excitement to the club, while boosting the overall level of play. 

Nima is eager to build on the wonderful tradition of Canterbury TC and be part of a growing community with members who enjoy their tennis.  He joins our community with his wife Nora and son Cyrus.

▪ Los Angeles city high school singles champion 2001, 2002
▪ Earned a college scholarship to BYU playing number 1 singles and doubles.
▪ Held ATP world ranking for over 8 years, representing Australia in international competition 
▪ Reached a career high ATP world ranking of 557 singles and 199 doubles
▪ Top 30 ranked tennis professional in Australia
▪ Represented Australia in Trans-Tasman Games
▪ Played alongside Jim Courier, Mats Wilander, Todd Martin, and several other hall of famers in pro charity exhibitions.
▪ Tennis training partner for Pete Sampras, Tommy Haas, Jelena Jankovic, Aravane Rezai and other top ATP/WTA players

dave king - HEAD coach & club coach professional

Dave brings more than 35 years of experience in player development and coaching and is accredited as a Tennis Australia Club Professional. His extensive background in coaching across clubs, tennis centres, schools, and private programs makes him a fantastic addition to our program.

Dave has worked with players of all ages and abilities, from beginners through to advanced competitors, and is known for delivering structured, curriculum-based programs that produce consistent and measurable results.

As a lifelong competitor with a strong playing background, Dave brings a deep understanding of the game that informs every aspect of his coaching. His approach combines modern coaching methodology with time-tested fundamentals, ensuring every player receives a clear development pathway tailored to their goals.

Dave also brings specialised knowledge in racquet restringing and string technology, helping players optimise their equipment through the right string type, tension, and setup to enhance performance.

grant o'callaghan - senior COACH & CLUB COACH PROFESSIONAL

Grant has been a Tennis Australia certified Club Coach Professional since 1993 with an extensive background and a wealth of knowledge. He has achieved numerous tennis accomplishments not only as a highly certified coach but also as a high level player as the ranked #1 junior in Victoria and #6 ranked in Australia. As an adult, Grant was the Singles and Doubles Champion at the over 35's Victorian Clay Court Championships and competed at the State Grade level in Tennis Victoria Pennant.
Grant has been leading tennis programs as Head Coach for over 25 years, most notably at Burnie Tennis Centre in Tasmania and at Balnarring Tennis Club on the Mornington Peninsula.

Grant has a passion for tennis and teaching the game so others can enjoy the many physical, mental and social benefits tennis provides.

Adam Majdan enhances our coaching team with his deep-rooted passion for the game and a strong presence in the Melbourne tennis scene. A competitive player at the MCC Glen Iris Valley Tennis Club, Adam has consistently demonstrated his skills on the court, most recently appearing as a 2025 finalist in prestigious club events.

Adam’s coaching philosophy is built on the same dedication he brings to his own training. Known for his technical precision and focus on dynamic footwork, he has a keen eye for the biomechanics that help players move more efficiently and effectively. Whether he is working on high-intensity drills or foundational skills, Adam is committed to helping players of all levels unlock their full potential.

Beyond his technical expertise, Adam is a strong advocate for the mental side of the sport. He believes that understanding a player’s unique goals and motivations is the key to a successful tennis journey. His approach is encouraging and goal-oriented, ensuring that every session is both productive and inspiring.

Amelia nadarajah - TENNIS  COACH ​

Amelia began playing at the age of 5 at Canterbury TC where she became a dedicated junior player and a passion for the sport. She has won multiple tournaments in singles and doubles and has competed in Victoria Pennant at a State Grade. She loves working with younger players, helping to improve their game and foster a positive environment for them to learn and grow. She aims to bring her tennis knowledge, enthusiasm and positive attitude together to create an environment where players feel confident and can develop a passion for the sport.

eitan britbart - TENNIS  COACH ​

Eitan began his tennis journey at the age of 8 at a local club in Israel. Inspired by watching other players on the court, he quickly developed a passion for the sport. By age 12, he was competing in tournaments and training six days a week, using tennis not only to improve his game but also to build fitness, confidence, and resilience.

After moving to Australia at 13, Eitan continued his development at Canterbury TC, where expert coaching helped refine his technique, strategy, and overall understanding of the game. Tennis has played a significant role in his personal growth, providing lifelong friendships and valuable life skills.

Eitan is passionate about helping young players develop both on and off the court. He strives to create a positive and supportive environment where players can build their skills, confidence, and love for the game. Since joining the coaching team at Nima Tennis, he has enjoyed helping young athletes grow and enjoy the many benefits of playing tennis.
